“Since this happened” Studio Events & Previews 2011

A witness to 9/11, painter and diarist Meredith Lund created more than a thousand works on paper in which she documents the period from September 11, 2001 to 2004. This Chelsea preview presents more than 250 drawings chosen by Susan Stoltz from archived art never intended for public viewing. This selection will become part of a larger exhibit, “Since this Happened,” conceived to travel.

“Meredith Lund’s hand-constructed, intimate, uncensored, complex, autobiographical chronicle of illuminations and feelings restores a missing part of the 9/11 dialogue.  I see an artist recording patterns and interpreting events, courageously in the present, ever navigating interior and exterior worlds, uncovering the foundations of our new era.”

DECEMBER 2011

MEREDITH LUND

In December 2001, the city was still broken, the site on fire, I made a commitment to continue drawing. the towers rise and fall. I am in  disguise

...I am the towers ... wearing a burkah or dressed in my hazmat suit.
